Project Description

The BCWMC, in cooperation with the City of Golden Valley, constructed the Briarwood/Dawnview Water Quality Improvement Project to improve the water quality discharged into the Bassett Creek Main Stem from a 184-acre single-family residential subwatershed generally located east of Highway 100 and north of Duluth Street.

The constructed project was identified as Option 3 in the project feasibility study and comprised the construction of a stormwater retention and treatment pond with dead pool storage. The pond is located south of Dawnview Terrace and east of Highway 100. The project reduced the amount of suspended solids and phosphorous entering Bassett Creek each year by an estimated 23 tons and 40 pounds, respectively.
