Project Description

The BCWMC, in cooperation with the City of Golden Valley, constructed the Wirth Lake Outlet Structure Modification Project to improve the water quality of Wirth Lake. The project replaced the outlet between Bassett Creek and Wirth Lake to reduce the amount of phosphorous entering Wirth Lake during flood periods without changing lake water levels or the outflow capacity of the outlet. In 2014 Wirth Lake was removed from the Minnesota Impaired Waters List because the lake now meets state water quality standards.
